How To Manage Upwards

Books on management have plenty of advice on how to manage your staff but little about “managing upwards”. Yet your relationship with your own manager is crucial to how you feel about your job and how you progress in your career. If you want to survive being managed, you’ll have to learn how to manage your manager.

This workshop shows you how.

Participants will learn how to confidently “manage upwards” by:

  • identifying – how well do you know your manager?
  • reflecting on how you view your manager and how your manager views you
  • learning some techniques and strategies for developing your relationship with your manager.

Face-to-Face Workshop Content

In this workshop participants complete a short questionnaire – How Well Do You Know Your Manager?

The workshop explores the assumptions participants have about their manager and about the relationship their manager has with them.

The workshop concludes by identifying a variety of strategies to help each participant develop their relationship with their manager.
